Step into The Grounds Meat & Deli and you enter a retail experience where tradition meets excellence. Nestled between Durbanville and Bellville on Edward Street, this family-owned establishment boasts a legacy of craftsmanship spanning four generations.
Two master butchers and a classically trained chef combine their skills to deliver an unparalleled meat experience at The Grounds.
What sets The Grounds Meat & Deli apart is their commitment to quality. With all manufacturing processes conducted on-site and all products sourced directly from local farmers, they craft products that are a feast for the senses. The beechwood smoked Kassler and bacon products, the traditionally made boerewors and brisket burger range, as well as their dry-aged steak options, including the Tennessee bourbon-drenched muslin-wrapped sirloins, are just a few examples of what sets them apart.
From the moment you step inside the store, you are met with the aroma of handmade, roast coriander-spiced biltong and droƫwors adorning the ceiling.
As you peruse the glass-fronted fridges, a gourmand range of butchery fare awaits, amongst which you will find some of the finest cuts such as a raised lamb shoulder, French-trimmed lamb racks, or the low and slow beef range including short rib squares and boneless brisket roasts.
Should you require speaking with one of the butchers, they are on-site plying their trade, always ready to assist. The gourmet counter awaits with offerings such as halloumi and bacon kebabs, deboned chicken thigh espetada, inch-cut lamb loin chops, or a Grounds speciality – braai “netadelles”.
The Grounds is simple and elegant, delightful and refined, and will become your destination butchery of choice.
